DARE-ing points of VIEW! DARE-ing Over-40 Women in Government

Angela Merkel

When pointing out the prominent and highly respected women in our government, I have to applaud Hilary Clinton. Love her or hate her, you have to admire her guts, fortitude, and just plain DARE-ing!  Although she leads the most “packed-full” life, with grave issues her constant companion, I love that she can state firmly and proudly, “My daughter is getting married, and it is the most important thing in my life right now.”

Of course, there is Michelle Obama.  Whether you agree with her husband’s ability and/or performance is neither here nor there. This woman is impressive, in her healthful lifestyle and her tackling of childhood obesity.

And I have to take my hat off to Angela Merkel. Sometimes nicknamed “Iron Lady,” a compliment if you appreciate the UK’s Margaret Thatcher, Merkel has been at the top of the Forbes Magazine list of “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” for the last five consecutive years.

Let’s just stop talking about their clothes! These DARE-ing over-40 women are influential, powerful, and honorable women leaders, not models or celebrities. Who cares what they are wearing?

  1. For all the high-profile women like the ones you mentioned, there are thousands and thousands of women doing amazing things all around the world in relative obscurity. Look around you–they may not look the part, but they’re sure as hell acting the part. Thank you, Liz, for this post.

“Your timing is perfect. Over the past year I have been thinking about what I want to do with the remainder of my working years. I have realized I need to feel that I am touching lives and making a difference in either a small or big way.” —CR
